Anyone else strangely attracted to this music video? I find its aesthetics rather appealing ...
Tinie Tempah - Pass Out (2009)
It starts off looking like a Nike campaign LOL with the spotlight, and the shaved head, then it gets a little weird with the rim of water making his head look like the planet Saturn, and you start thinking "What is this? Is that ... sweat? It is a visual metaphor for imagination, possibilities, dreaming?" It's mind fuck that's what it is.
It is then combined with the mystical audio of snare drums and synthesised bass, seeming to echo through time. And then, while you're still thinking, "What is this?" the british rapper speaks, but in an almost inaudible yet capturing whisper. Close up of his mouth, and you've really got to pay attention, shift your attention away from his pearly whites and observe that his teeth are imperfect, they are chipped. HIS TWO FRONT TEETH ARE CHIPPED BROOO. But, the chip, is symmetrical, an addition to your ever building mind fuck ensemble of this amazing clip.
Truth be told only the first few seconds are worth watching, because the rest is just repeated cuts of speakers booming, neon letters, shattering glass, flickering lights, and Patrick Chuckwuemeka Okogwu (the performer's real name) dancing and chilling naturally like a G6 under dynamic lighting. A bit I do favour towards is his "crazy sun protectors" at 1:21 - if specs like those really did exist well that would be my next Christmas wish.
He is a rapper, and he is British, therefore he is a rapper with a British accent, and in Tinie's case you can actually hear this accent. Automatic mind fuck right there.
Check out my visual. Check out my audio.
Leave me alone I am at peace with my music.
